Royal Mail, the British postal service and courier company, reached out to London College of Communication (LCC) to revamp their business photography.

BA (Hons) Photojournalism and Documentary Photography 2nd and 3rd year students worked on this project where the brief was to bring a fresh outlook to one of UK’s oldest and most recognisable brands. The students submitted proposals which included ecommerce and lifestyle photography, capturing portraits of staff working in remote locations and people receiving packages at their doorsteps.

Royal Mail commissioned 12 students who travelled to locations across London and Scotland to document the daily workings of its employees. Fanni Sutus, a 3rd year BA (Hons) Photojournalism and Documentary Photography student created a before and after series which showcased people’s transformation after they received a Royal Mail package. The photographs produced by these students were used across Royal Mail’s communication channels.

We wanted to partner with a prestigious London based educational establishment that has focus on communications and photography and LCC was a natural fit to achieve this.

— Jeff Collins, Head of Brand at Royal Mail
Collaborating with such a well-known company like Royal Mail is an extraordinary opportunity, especially as a university student.

— Fanni Sutus, BA (Hons) Photojournalism and Documentary Photography
This is a wonderful opportunity on many levels, because the students come to realise that the photographic skills they have learned on the course will equip them to photograph in today’s professional marketplace.
