Plan International UK is a charity that advances children’s rights and equality for girls all over the world. They approached London College of Communication (LCC) to go beyond petitions and design innovative and effective ways that would improve awareness and engagement for their appeals and initiatives.

MA Service Design students led this project in 4 phases with the Plan UK team closely involved and updated at the end of each phase. The first phase kicked off with a briefing from Plan UK and the second phase had a workshop with students from across LCC and Plan UK employees where they developed concepts and approaches for the week. In a following workshop, these ideas were prototyped. In the third phase, these concepts were developed into viable solutions with further testing done with the public. In the final phase, the students designed the communication and implementation for selected concepts.

The students delivered 4 service concepts with complete implementation and communication plan for Plan UK to use in their future campaigns.

We were looking for a fresh pair of eyes and the LCC students have done exactly that for us and they are thinking creatively for us.

The best part about collaborating with any organisation is that you can work closer with a client, so they can give you their opinion but also you can share your insights, your research with them.
