Phil Lawlor is a music supervisor, DJ and lifelong record collector who runs a full-service music supervision agency. He began his career at PRS for Music before joining Chris Blackwell’s iconic publishing company, Blue Mountain Music, where he headed the synchronisation department representing songwriters and artists such as Bob Marley, U2 and Serge Gainsbourg.
Phil has worked across a wide spectrum of award-winning films and global brand campaigns, collaborating on music for artists as diverse as Frank Sinatra, Justice and Jay-Z. He works closely with labels, publishers and artist managers to create work that balances artistic identity with commercial ambition.
Alongside his industry work, Phil is a passionate music fan, DJ and producer. His musical interests span soul, funk, jazz and hip hop. He is particularly inspired by the work of film composers such as Ennio Morricone, Jean-Claude Vannier, R.D. Burman and Quincy Jones, and loves to collect drum-breaks and 45s.
He holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Music and is particularly interested in the relationships between creativity, identity, culture and moving image.
