Grenfell Athletic FC is a community football club that was founded by local youth centre manager Rupert Taylor to support survivors, bereaved and the wider community after the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire.
Each year, Grenfell Athletic FC releases kits that are inspired by the Grenfell community, using sales from the shirts to support projects that positively impact the community. The club turned to LCC students to come up with the next big idea for their 2024 kit. As part of their Final Major Project, final-year BA Graphic Media Design students developed concepts for the kit, which is produced by Nike.
The students’ proposals included insights from the local community; a big idea and concept; a shirt design and a promotion campaign activation. The campaign activation included visuals, partnership ideas and suggestions for how shirt sales revenue could be used to positively impact the community, as in previous initiatives such as The Dream Carriers.
Grenfell Athletic FC selected Mireia Lladó Mendoza’s proposal which will be activated for the 2024/25 football season. Students were also offered paid placements at the club’s creative agency Brothers & Sisters, who provided feedback and guidance to students throughout the project.
Mireia’s concept and design are embargoed until the 2024 campaign launch, and will be published on this page. Watch this space!
