The Printing Charity is a national charity who help people of all ages in the printing, publishing, packaging and graphic arts sectors. They approached London College of Communication (LCC) to get an insight into what young people think about print.
BA (Hons) Photojournalism and Documentary Photography students worked on this brief. They focused particularly on the craft of print and production. The students found stories of how print was still alive in communities through print collectives and handmade zines, through screen printing and traditional photo processing.
Images from 8 students were chosen by The Printing Charity. The success of this project led to The Printing Charity collaborating with LCC students on the redesign of their awards event programme and their annual report. Szu-yun Chang (MA Graphic Media Design), Yin Yu Chen (MA Graphic Branding and Identity), and Linlin Pan (MA Illustration and Visual Media), were selected to create the annual report. Costanza De Luca (BA Hons Graphic and Media Design), was chosen to design the Print Futures Awards programme. These 4 students were also awarded the Print Futures Awards for their contributions.
