He has worked as audio director for the media arts collective D-Fuse for a number of years, being involved in project development and responsible for the sound aspect of many of the group’s audio-visual live performances and installations.

D-Fuse’s work has been shown internationally, including at Tribeca Film Festival and Eyebeam (New York), Itaú Cultural and FILE Festival (São Paulo), Get It Louder (Beijing/Shanghai/Guangzhou), Sonic Acts (Amsterdam), MU (Eindhoven), CYNETart (Dresden), LEV (Gijon), ISEA (Belfast), BFI IMAX and Kings Place (London), among others.

His solo work crosses media such as video, installation, composition for voice, free improvisation, and intervention in public and online spaces, and is dealing with themes such as migration, urban space, finance, precarious work and platform capitalism.

Matthias is a founding editor of Hyphen Journal, an open-access journal for research-practice, and assistant editor for the Moving Image and Art Review Journal (MIRAJ), is coordinating the Committee on Activism for the International Initiative for Promoting Political Economy (IIPPE), and teaches at the University of the Arts London and the University of Westminster.
