BA (Hons) Information and Interface Design is a practice-led course that explores the use and significant role digital interfaces play in contemporary life and emphasises a design practice that shapes the user experience of emerging technologies.
The course focuses on user experience (UX), user interface (UI) and information design practices whilst also emphasising the use of creative coding and prototyping tools to realise projects. Students are uniquely positioned to creatively, ethically and technically define an increasingly important and growing area of the design and creative industries.

This project aims to introduce audiences the process of how self-censorship change our talking behaviours on social media and how we give up expressing strong opinions. What can we do when we face the central supervision of the government and the surrounding gaze from different netizens?
Exploring ideas of self-censorship, this project creates personal and collective interactive experiences through a variety of mediums ranging from small-scale installation and narrative images to digital interface.

The game represents the different values and usage that the phone has linked to our real lives. By immersing the player in a virtual environment with game convention objectives and a phone we can test the player to their limits. When the phone rings it represents the relationship we have with the object, which is categorised in three states of how we interact with it.
Which corresponds as a Personal Object, Network Communicator and Corporate Value. These values share a reality which we are linked to and are part of our lives that we connect to using the phone.
The player is challenged with a difficult situation of completing the game, whilst the player is completing the objectives a virtual phone is present to tempt them to interact with the phone. If the player cannot resist the temptation they are bound to lose the game, based on the concept of Orpheus.

This project is a visual and audio simulation of what living with Hyperacusis (noise sensitivity) is like.
Dream Divination is a decision-making helper system using virtual reality technology. When faced with difficulties, we often defer decisions to ritualistic and superstitious methods. This project works as experimentation aims to investigate this through the use of designed processes, computational systems and the 64 hexagrams in The I Ching book.
Participants were asked to think about a situation they have influences on before starting the VR journey. They will need to make choices during the VR experience which decide the next scenes they are going to. In the end, they will receive a suggestion given by the system and have the option to provide anonymous self-reflective feedback.

Climate change is an issue being voiced by people throughout the world. Cities deal with these environmental challenges in their own way due to their economic circumstances. Through these concerns, this installation gives a multi-sensory insight into how climate change is affecting the most developed, developing and undeveloped cities of the world.
Each box explores population, CO2 emissions, rising of sea levels and energy consumption through touch, smell, sound and sight to reflect upon climate change and the central cause to these issues.

Pitched in a speculative future where neural networks have perfected the simulation of fake imagery and video, also known as ‘Deepfakes’. The situation has reached pandemic proportions where public trust in information has degraded. As an employee of XYZ Corp you must partake in this ‘Voight Kampff’ Training Program in order to test your perception in identifying these ‘Deepfakes’.
This project was inspired by the ‘Voight Kampff Machine’ in Blade Runner which is used to determine whether the synthetic beings ‘replicants’ are human or a not. What would this speculative ‘Voight Kampff’ machine of today be, and how would it be used?

Self-tracking practices have got into our most intimate and personal life, with devices that allow users to even collect data of sexual encounters, reinforcing a normative idea of sex, which tends to portray a very limited range of sexual behaviours and conventions. This installation aims to represent an enclosed system that controls the way technology, through self-adjustment and repetition of stereotypes and biased images of search engines, is taught sex should look like.
By comparing human action to machine action, as a continuous cycle of information processing and feedback, this system gives away the impression that labour, gamification, and collection of data, can define the quality of sex. In this process, the system leaves behind the unquantifiable, the things that it will never understand: intimacy, feelings, closeness, affection.
