Biography

Dr Anna Klamet is Lecturer on BA (Hons) Magazine Journalism and Publishing and MA Publishing at London College of Communication.

Anna has worked in the media sector in various roles before pursuing a PhD in digital publishing and small book markets in Europe. She has worked for organisations including the Indian office of the Frankfurt Book Fair, MairDumont (Germany’s largest provider of travel information), Germany’s Second Television Channel, a large regional newspaper, and a market research company measuring the effects of adverts in newspapers. Parallel to writing her thesis she consulted small publishing houses in Scotland on digital publishing strategies.

Before joining the University of the Arts London, Anna was a Lecturer in Publishing on the MSc Publishing at Edinburgh Napier University within the School of Arts and Creative Industries, and part of the Scottish Centre for the Book. The Centre carries out work that informs policy related to authorship, reading and publishing.

Anna’s research interests centre around media management and small nation cultural production with a focus on minority languages, globalisation and identity. She is also interested in digital publishing, entrepreneurship and innovative new business models as a result of digital disruption. In the past, Anna has researched and published on organisational adaption and digital publishing in Austria, Germany, Scotland and Slovenia.

Anna regularly presents her research at international conferences and is a founding member of the Arts meets Social Sciences Network at Edinburgh Napier University, fostering exchange between PhD and early career researchers from the humanities with those from the social sciences, to learn about different research methodologies.

Anna is currently working on a book on innovation management in book publishing to be published by Springer Nature and conducting research on open access publishing in the humanities.
