Hatie is a Senior Lecturer for BA (Hons) Public Relations at London College of Communication.
She received her PhD in Communication, undergraduate and Honour’s qualifications from the University of Fort Hare, as well as the Postgraduate Diploma in Media Management and the Master of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies, both from Rhodes University. She also has a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) from the Namibia University of Science and Technology.
She is a Chartered Public Relations Practitioner with experience in teaching communication, public relations, journalism and media, as well as communication research methods. Prior to joining LCC, she taught in South Africa and Namibia, in both public and private higher education. She also has experience in Master’s and PhD supervision, external examination and reviewing journal articles for different publications.
Her research interests lie in the areas of participatory journalism, teaching and learning in higher education, particularly in the context of technological revolution. She also researched on gender issues, as well as disability and marginalisation in various African contexts.
