Biography

Richard Sherriff is a lecturer for both the MA Games Design and BA (Hons) Games Design programmes at London College of Communication. programmes at London College of Communication. He is a games developer, researcher, and educator.

In his practice, Richard seeks to create new modes of play through his exploration of alternative control systems for games. He is particularly interested in crafting small, playful pieces that offer critical insights into the existing dynamics between individuals and the concept of play.

Richard works in a variety of mediums, including digital games, games in a space and custom-built games hardware.His research explores how technology shapes the types of games we are able to develop, as well as the historical and material factors that have contributed to the evolution of these technologies.

He has recently presented papers at the History of Games Conference and the European Conference on Video Game Music and Sound. Through his teaching he aims to help students understand and use different playful approaches to existing technology and hardware.
