Biography

Veron Lai is Senior Lecturer on MA Service Design at London College of Communication. She is a design leader with over 20 years of experience across startups, scale-ups, consultancies, and public sector organisations.

Veron currently works independently as a design consultant and design coach, alongside teaching at London College of Communication and Central Saint Martins.

She previously led design at Accurx, a digital communication service supporting 98% of UK primary care, and at Elvie, the women’s health tech company behind the award-winning Elvie Pump, Elvie Stride, and Elvie Trainer. Her earlier consultancy work included projects for NHS England, Barnardo’s, and John Lewis & Partners, as well as collaborations with agencies like Designit, Nile and Engine Service Design.

At UAL, Veron brings deep industry insight into her teaching. She created the Ways of Working unit to help students build the skills needed for today’s collaborative, cross-disciplinary design landscape. She also leads live industry projects with partners like Camden Council, Wellcome Collection, and Age UK, and runs professional development sessions to support students’ transition into industry.

Her teaching is rooted in empathy, curiosity, and adaptability, helping students grow not just as designers, but as confident, reflective professionals.
