Dr Mark Peter Wright, Reader in Critical Sound Practice at London College of Communication, has been appointed as the new Director of Creative Research into Sound Arts Practice (CRiSAP).
Mark’s appointment follows the decision of Professor Cathy Lane, who has been the Director and previously co-Director of CRiSAP since 2005, to step down from the role to dedicate more time and energy to her own research and artistic practice. Cathy will continue in her role of Professor of Sound Arts at LCC.
Based in London College of Communication’s Screen School, CRiSAP is a UAL research centre dedicated to the exploration of the rich complexities of sound as an artistic practice.
Mark – who is an artist, researcher and writer, and whose practice combines sound, performance and collaboration – is a long-standing member of CRiSAP and Reader in Critical Sound Practice as well as the current Research Co-ordinator for LCC's Screen School.
Zey Suka-Bill, Dean of Screen at London College of Communication, said:
“As Prof. Cathy Lane transitions to focus on new research projects, I want to acknowledge her excellent leadership that has significantly shaped CRiSAP. Her dedication and vision have been instrumental in our growth.”
“Dr. Mark Peter Wright’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for CRiSAP. His innovative work in sound arts and research aligns perfectly with our mission to explore the intersection of creativity, technology, and critical inquiry.
We are confident that under his leadership, CRiSAP will continue to flourish and shape the future of sound arts practice."
