London College of Communication’s Public Relations courses welcomed back LCC graduate Daryl Willcox for a PR masterclass – part of a series of industry-focused talks ensuring students are ready for industry as soon as they graduate.
Public Relations at LCC is strongly linked to industry and successful graduates leave with the knowledge and skills ready to establish a range of potential careers.
LCC graduate Daryl founded media relations technology firm ResponseSource in 1997, connecting journalists with the stories and content that PR people were generating as a response to his frustrations caused by the lack of technology.
Daryl has given guest lectures for several years to both BA (Hons) Public Relations and MA Public Relations students at LCC, sharing his vision for using technology to better connect journalists with the public relations industry and the practical business of making media relations more effective.
“This was a nice start to the Masterclass series of lunchtime lectures and gave me a new perspective on PR, as well as an inspiring story of how one LCC student went on to be a successful entrepreneur in the PR and media sector” said a student on MA Public Relations.
The year’s visit timed with Daryl having just sold ResponseSource to Vuelio, a PR software company for £5.5m, with Daryl staying on as Director of Audience Strategy for Access Intelligence, Vuelio’s parent company.
“It was great to see the students connecting with our alumni and for them to gain valuable insight into the industry,” Gareth Thompson, MA Public Relations Course Leader
“Talks like these are an essential way to see how industry works and help them expand their professional network.”
