London College of Communication has won The Independent Game Developer’s Association (TIGA) Games Industry Award for Education Initiative and Talent Development in recognition of the Games Fusion Project.
The Games Fusion Project is funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and developed in partnership with Queen Mary University of London. The Project combines the strengths of both universities and involves a range of professional bodies and industry partners in the design of a new curriculum to create industy-ready graduates in Games Design.
The TIGA Games Industry Awards recognise excellence in games development, business and education and celebrate the achievements of both small and large games development studios.
Larra Anderson, Dean of Screen at LCC said:
“This means a tremendous amount to our Games Design programme here at LCC. The curriculum that was developed was designed to be truly industry relevant and to properly prepare games students to enter industry, through a fusion of arts, design and computing education along with direct industry co-design.
“This was enabled through the collaboration of all of our partners, staff and students and I am very grateful to all who participated as the research hopefully has created an even stronger curriculum offering.”
