At London College of Communication (LCC), we recognise the importance of exploring the interaction between creative practice and industry innovation.
Taught by tutors with extensive practical experience, our students are encouraged to better understand the wider context of their disciplines, and are supported to develop key insights and key contacts in order to take the next steps on their professional journeys.
Whether celebrated alumni, guest lecturers or long-term collaborators, LCC is affiliated with a range of industry leaders across our specialist areas of Design, Media and Screen. These connections enable us to engage with themes that are defining the contemporary landscape, and to cultivate important conversations beyond our College Building.
Our Value Talks series aims to utilise the strength of our connections by inviting established figures from across the creative industries to share their thoughts around such issues while discussing the importance of creativity. From photographers and filmmakers to authors and activists, speakers are given the space to discuss the latest developments in their sectors, how they've navigated their own professional journeys, and ways to make an impact in their chosen careers.
With previous guests ranging from author Derek Owusu and game developer Jai Bunnag (Season 1) to broadcaster Charlene White, designer Henry Holland and writer Shon Faye (Season 2), our third season launches in December 2022 with a discussion on diversity and inclusion in the field of public relations.
Being seen, being hired, being heard: diversity in PR | Value Talks Podcast
Episode 1 brings together host Tim Ogu with Kamiqua Lake, Founder of Coldr and the UK Black Comms Network; Mohammad Qazalbash, Head of Concert Publicity at Live Nation Entertainment; and Rachel Allison, Founder of Axe & Saw, to discuss why representation matters, how emerging practitioners can find their niche, and the importance of driving positive change in PR and beyond.
Their experiences are positioned to strike a chord with audiences across the LCC and the wider UAL community as both Mohammad and Rachel graduated from our BA (Hons) Public Relations course, while Kamiqua graduated from London College of Fashion (LCF).
In further upcoming episodes, panels will continue to consider the influences shaping both the ideas and inspiration behind emerging and established practitioners, along with the contexts in which they work. Together, guests will discuss themes such as:
