MA Publishing students explore innovation in 15th annual conference Making Connections

MA Publishing students from London College of Communication are preparing to host their 15th annual publishing conference later this month – exploring innovation within the world of publishing with some high-profile speakers.

Making Connections, the name of the conference this year, will take place at the College on 25 April and will include speakers from publications including the Stylist Group, Wired, and International Magazine Centre. It will look at innovative relationships between readers and publishers.

Speakers include Nikki Simpson, director for International Magazine Centre; Peter Houston, writer and podcast host for Flipping Pages Media; Matt Phare, creative director for The Stylist Group; and Gian Volpicelli, senior editor for Wired magazine.

MA Publishing student Fanny Perrot-Belezy said: “The focus for this year’s conference is to bring audiences and publishers closer and create collaboration through innovation within the world of publishing.

“We are going to touch on subjects like the transformation of audiences into active participants through various practices and share some valuable insights of the industry.”

The event will include a keynote speech, a panel discussion, as well as a ‘hack hour’ –  a one-hour session where guests will contribute and collaborate, with the results to be displayed during a networking event at the end of the day.

Fanny added: “We are really excited to organise this conference and we hope you will learn something new about the industry... We cannot wait to see you all there!”
