Studying and working in UAL’s future new building for London College of Communication is becoming increasingly tangible and real with the construction of the building’s shell and core making visible progress across the road from the current College site.
And in an exciting recent development – as students, staff and our local communities will have seen – the UAL logo has now been installed at the top of the building, which is due to open in September 2027.
In early March, students and staff watched as the elements of the UAL logo were craned into place.
The installation of the logo follows last summer’s Topping Out ceremony, which celebrated the construction of the building reaching its tallest height.
The cutting-edge new building for London College of Communication will be home to over 5,000 students and over 500 staff – discovering new possibilities in creative communications education.
The building has been designed to meet the needs of a fast-changing world, and will benefit from a flexible, malleable design that we can adapt and evolve, to allow us to stay at the forefront of creative thinking, making and problem solving.
It will be equipped with specialist spaces to accommodate the needs of our specialist subjects and maximise the use of our Technical Resources, including a new cinema space.
And with the building’s first two floors due to be open to the public, it will be easier than ever for public audiences to explore everything we have to offer – from student showcasing and events to popping in for a coffee amongst the creative buzz of our thriving student community.
While we look towards and plan for our cutting-edge new building, we continue to invest in our current site in order to provide an environment that supports positive student and staff experience.
We have continued to enhance our existing facilities with the latest technological advancements, as well as introduce new facilities to our current building, to ensure our current students are ready to take on the creative industries as soon as they graduate.
