As part of London College of Communication’s ongoing support to our cultural neighbours, we’re featuring a weekly round-up of some of the activities and content provided by the fantastic museums, galleries and cultural venues in our local area.
From online events like Instagram drawing clubs and virtual exhibitions to physical activities like performances and screenings, here’s our guide to what you can get involved in with our Southwark and Lambeth friends and partners both online and in person.

For parents, babies and toddlers aged 4 and below, this group will get you off the couch and singing, moving and grooving in a fun-filled 40 minutes of music-making. All you need is a computer or tablet with a webcam and sound, a cuddly toy (or 10) and a musical instrument (a saucepan and spoon will do). The group takes place over zoom - if you need any help let us know.

In March, Voluntary Arts launched #CreativeNetwork - a series of online get-togethers open to anyone involved in arts, culture and creativity in order to connect and collaborate in unusual times. Facilitating these conversations has enabled people from across the UK and Ireland to talk with others, develop ideas and projects, and find sustainable ways forward in changing circumstances.

Supported by Forma, the Frieze Artist Award presents a major opportunity for an emerging international artist to debut an ambitious new commission for Frieze London. Whittle’s creative practice is motivated by the desire to manifest self-compassion and collective care as key methods in battling anti-blackness.

We offer 45-minute advice surgery for artists. Artist Advice Surgeries are usually held in person, but due to current restrictions this is a Zoom/telephone offer for October and November sessions.

To celebrate Elmer the Elephant’s 30th birthday, International students from the ‘Certificate in Higher Education: Preparation for Design Media and Screen’, course at London College of Communication, UAL, created an Elmer elephant in collaboration with the artist, Donna Newman.
London College of Communication is taking part in Creative Elephant – a collaboration between Elephant and Castle institutions aiming to demonstrate the amount of talent and number of hidden gems based in the area.
