In Chengcen.W's words...
"The impact of plastic pollution occurs in a space that is hidden from the citizens of plastic-utopia countries. For example, in the United Kingdom, Environment Agency figures show that the UK exported a total of 611,000 tonnes of recovered plastic packaging to other countries in 2018 (Harrabin. R, Edgington. T, 2019). Countries like Malaysia are suffering from the impact of plastic imports.
"We live in a world which is dominated by the rapid development of information technology, and the plastic waste situation is frequently mentioned in social media. However, the situation is unlikely to change significantly.
"Many plastic generators live in plastic-utopia countries, which disconnect individual plastic generators from the world plastic situation. Those countries do not appear to have a plastic pollution problem and this causes the situation to become abstract."
