The Branded Content Research Hub has a programme of online talks and events, exploring content that is produced or funded by brands.

We investigate branded content practices and regulation, which engages:

  • international academics
  • industry practitioners and professional bodies
  • regulators
  • policy stakeholders
  • and other civil society interests.

Thursday 27 June 2024 | Branded Content Governance Project End-of-Year 2 Event | 1.40pm - 6pm (UTC + 0:00) | Hybrid (online on Microsoft Teams or in person at London College of Communication)

The Branded Content Governance (BCG) project is hosting an afternoon event on Thursday 27 June involving a panel discussion on audiovisual advertising regulation (2pm – 3.30pm), and the launch two reports (4pm - 5.15pm), to mark the end of the second year of the project.

Audiovisual Plat(form) Innovations and Branded Content Governance Panel Discussion (2pm – 3.30pm).

This panel discussion will consider the rules affecting branded content for the expanding forms of audiovisual content, including across streaming video-on-demand services, live streaming and podcasting. The specific UK context includes the VOD provisions of the Media Act, the extension of advertising to BBC Studios podcasts, and the Online Advertising Programme.

Speakers:  Anthony Worrall, Head of Editorial Standards (BBC Studios); Carlotta Rossi Spencer, Head of Branded Entertainment, Banijay Entertainment; Andrew Canter, Global Chairman (Branded Content Marketing Association); and chair Prof. Jonathan Hardy, Principal Investigator, BCG Project (University of the Arts London).

BCG Reports Launch (4pm-5.15pm).

The second session  will launch and discuss the first phase of our 32-country report on branded content regulation, and Mapping the Media Marketing Ecology, an analysis of the key actors and processes involved in contemporary marketing and branded content.
